Dunham’s Rust Preventive High Gloss Enamel Polyurethane Reinforced For Interior & Exterior Use is superior quality rust preventive coating for metal substrates. It is recommended for numerous metal interior and exterior surfaces. It applies smoothly and easily with superior leveling and hiding qualities to new and previously painted metals, such as structural steel, equipment tanks, implements, catwalks, stairs or railings.

Surface Preparation:
The surface to coat should be clean, free of dirt, grease, oil, dust, wax, mildew, rust, water soluble materials or peeling paint. Glossy surfaces must be dulled by sanding prior to painting. Remove loose paint by scraping. Sanding dust must be removed prior to paint application. PRIMING-NEW METAL: Use Alkyd Metal Primer to prevent corrosion; product may also be used direct to metal. Previously Painted Surfaces: Apply one or two coats of Rust Preventive Enamel.
Application:
Stir thoroughly with lifting motion until uniform mixture is obtained. Stir occasionally during use. For best results use a high quality natural bristle brush. Roller covers should be short nap mohair or similar type Professional cover. Paint can also be sprayed. Do not apply if surface or air temperature is below 45 degrees F or above 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
Coverage:
The coverage will be approximately 375-425 sq. feet (34.9-39.5 sq. meters) per gallon depending on porosity and texture of surface. Uniformity of color is dependent on batch consistency.
Drying Time:
Rust Stop will dry under normal condition-temperature of 77 degrees Fahrenheit, dries to touch in 1-2 hrs. Area can be recoated in about 8 hours, with light sanding between coats. Fully cures in approximately 10 days, depending on environmental conditions
Cleanup:
Clean equipment immediately after use with mineral spirits. Flushing sprays equipment at noon break, with thorough cleaning. At the end of the work day, is a good work practice. USE COMPLETELY OR DISPOSE OF PROPERLY. An empty container with product residue may still be flammable: follow all hazard statements until it has been disposed of properly. This product contains organic solvents with may cause adverse effects to the environment if handled improperly. Save unused product for touch-up purposed or a household hazardous waste collection program. Dry, empty containers may be recycled in a can recycling program. Local disposal requirements may vary: Consult your sanitation department or state designated environmental agency for more information on disposal options.
Caution:
FIRST AID: If affected by inhalation of vapors or spray most, remove to fresh air. In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and call a physician; for skin contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water. In case of ingestion-DO NOT INDUCE VOMITTING, get professional medical help immediately. IN CASE OF FIRE: Use Foam, CO (2) dry chemical or water fog. IN CASE OF SPILL: Absorb with inert material and dispose of as specified under "CLEAN UP" FOR METAL SUBSTRATES ONLY
Warning:
MAY CAUSE EYE, SKIN, NOSE AND THROAT IRRITATION. NOTICE: Repeated and prolonged exposure to solvents may lead to permanent brain and nervous system damage. Eye watering, headaches, nausea, dizziness and loss of coordination are signs that solvent levels are too high. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling the contents may be harmful or fatal. Keep away for heat, spark and flame. VAPORS MAY CAUSE FLASH FIRE. Use only with adequate ventilation. Do not breathe vapors, spray mist or sanding suds. Avoid contact with eyes and prolonged or repeated contact with skin. Wear eye protection and gloves. To avoid breathing vapors or spray mist, open window and doors or use other means to ensure fresh air entry during application and drying. If you experience eye watering, headaches or dizziness, increase fresh airs of ear a properly fitted vapor/particulate respirator approved by NIOSH for use with paints or leave the area. In all cases follow respirator manufacturer's directions for respirator use. Close container after each use.
